DocBike Wales Reaches Key Milestone

by | Sep 2, 2020 | DocBike UK, Wales

Since the start of the year, a vast amount of work has been going on in the background at DocBike to set up a new branch in Wales.

After seeing the successful launch of the charity in Dorset, Dr Rob Dawes who is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Prehospital Care at Hereford County Hospital and also a Critical Care Doctor for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, was keen to replicate the scheme to benefit those living in Wales.

With significant support from Dyfed-Powys Police, GoSafe Cymru and with help from Dr Ray Monsell who is a GP with vast experience in prehospital care, Dr Dawes has been leading the development of the new branch of the charity in a bid to encourage bikers to attend BikeSafe and BikerDown Cymru courses and reduce motorcycle deaths in the South Wales area.

After several months of hard work and planning, this culminated in Dr Dawes and Dr Monsell completing a three-week police motorcycle course with Dyfed-Powys Police, which will enable them to be deployed to incidents using the DocBikes to provide critical care to patients.

Huge congratulations go to DocBike Wales for reaching this key milestone and our sincere thanks go to Dyfed-Powys Police and GoSafe Cymru for their amazing support.
