On the 10th February, partners from across Wessex met at the Chilworth research buildings in Hampshire to help shape the formation of MIPnet, the Motorcycle Injury Prevention Network.
With representation from across the region, present included:
- Prof William Rosenberg – Chair of the Wessex Health Partners
- Christine McGrath – Managing Director of the Wessex Health Partners
- Dr Ian Mew & Sarah Doyle – co-leads for MIPnet
- Nina Barratt – Network Facilitator
- Shaun Cronin – motorcyclist and public representative for the motorcycling community
- Prof Alastair Hutchinson – Medical Director for Research at Dorset County Hospital & Dorset Healthcare
- Phil Hyde – National Director for the Pre-Hospital Research & Audit Network (PRANA)
- Chantal Chaney – Wessex Secure Data Environment
- Professors from Bournemouth and Southampton Universities leading in a wide range of research fields
- Clinical Academics from Dorset County Hospital
The afternoon allowed all involved to focus on developing the network to reduce motorcycle collisions on UK roads without limiting the freedom of motorcycle users, decide on a strategic development that will attract funding and form a solid base for future research in this area.
