Docbike Santa Toy Run 2025

by | Jan 30, 2026 | DocBike UK, Dorset

Once again in December, our Santa Toy Run brought festive cheer to young patients staying in Kingfisher Ward at Dorset County Hospital on Christmas Day.

On Sunday 21st December 2025, over 70 big-hearted bikers took part in our annual ‘Santa Toy Run’ event, to donate special gifts to young patients unable to spend Christmas Day at home with their families.

Despite challenging weather conditions on the morning, the rain cleared just in time for the ride out to set off from The Churchill Arms in Alderholt at 11.30am, with bikers donning their best Christmas fancy dress outfits. We all convened in the car park at the top of Dorchester high street so we can ride in together.  Adrian & Sy met the mayor and mayoress who were visiting the 20th annual Christmas Steam & vintage meet up.

After completing the special 35-mile ride out, bikers were greeted with a warm welcome by staff from Kingfisher Ward, who gladly accepted their generously donated gifts for patients to open on Christmas Day.

Kingfisher Ward is Dorset County Hospital’s ward for children and young people aged 0 to 17 years and provides a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for young patients being cared for at the hospital. Staff at Kingfisher Ward adopt a philosophy of family-centred care, with each child/young person being cared for as an individual as well as being part of a family.

Speaking about our annual Santa toy run event, Tanya Wynyard, DocBike Volunteer and Landlady at The Churchill Arms said:

“I am overjoyed with the amount of support that we received for DocBike’s annual Santa Toy Run, especially as the weather wasn’t on our side again. I would like to say a huge thank you everyone who generously donated gifts, got involved, or helped to make the event possible. I would also like to extend our gratitude and to thank the staff at Kingfisher Ward, for providing us with the opportunity to hold our annual rideout for the biker community to enjoy again.”

Commenting on the joy that the donated gifts brought to young patients, Jodi Hibberd, Head of fundraising & Communications at Dorset County Hospital said:

On behalf of Dorset County Hospital Charity and the staff, patients, and families on Kingfisher Ward over this festive period, heartfelt thanks for the generous Christmas presents kindly donated to the children.

Your visit brought so much joy and excitement to the ward, and it was wonderful to see all the riders dressed as Santas and a number of other festive characters. The children – and staff – were absolutely delighted!

The DocBike Charity receives no direct funding from the Government and we rely on the generosity of the public to continue our life-saving work, which puts highly trained trauma doctors or critical care paramedics on two wheels, to reduce deaths and serious injuries on the UK’s roads due to motorcycle collisions.

Please help to support our life-saving charity by donating what you can, thank you!
