DocBike Creates a Military Liaison Branch

  • DocBike recognises that a large number of service personnel are involved in motorcycle collisions, more so than the civilian population.

As our research through the Motorcycle Injury Prevention Network (MIPnet) starts to take shape, this lends us an opportunity to work closely with the Defence Medical Services and help service personnel to develop their motorcycling skills, becoming better bikers and therefore being less likely to crash, whilst undertaking research into the specifics of service personnel.

New Military Liaison Branch

In order to meet the needs of liaison with military branches, events and research; DocBike has created a lead for Military Liaison. Led by former service personnel, they understand the infrastructure and nuances of working with the military.

This also brings together ex-service personnel from all of our branches across the country, coordinating participation at events such as “Ride to the wall” and remembrance day services.

Collaboration with NHS Dorset

Ash Boreham, a former senior officer in the Royal Amy Medical Corps and now Deputy Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer for NHS Dorset Integrated Care Board is leading the collaboration between prevention, education and research. A steering group member of MIPnet, we’re lucky to have him on board.

The Military Liaison Branch is a new entity within the DocBike charity. Watch this space to see how it develops and if you would like to reach out to the team, you can email them at military@docbike.org
