Docbike in Scotland

 This week saw Dorset’s Clinical Lead & Paramedic Dean Fernee and Paramedic Dave representing DocBike in Scotland at the “Dust off your leathers” skills day at Knockhill circuit. The event, run by IAM Roadsmart in conjunction with Transport for

 

Scotland and Scotland Police (among other stakeholders) saw a mix of practical workshops on bike maintenance, rider skills and on-track instruction by IAM Instructors.

 

 

 

Dean and Dave provided the DocBike contingent to deliver six short, sharp, no-nonsense trauma care sessions to nearly 80 motorcycle riders throughout the day focussing on how to keep yourself safe and keep someone alive at the scene of an accident. Laced with good humour, real life experience, and some key points to take away.

 

 

 

There was huge engagement from senior leaders such as Transport Scotland and Police Scotland as well as each attendee being given a Crash Card and the DocBike motorcycle trauma kit to take home with them.

 

 

These events are crucial in engaging with motorcycle riders who remain the most overrepresented group in collision statistics but also our wonderful community. The skills from the day will hopefully event collisions occurring in the first place and provide nearly 80 riders the confidence and skills to safely manage an incident they may happen upon.
