#AAW2023 – Day 3 – DocBike Staffordshire & Midlands Air Ambulance

On day three of #AirAmbulanceWeek, we visit DocBike Staffordshire and meet regional lead Carol.

“On the 27th August 2019, the Midlands Air Ambulance was called out to my son who was in a motorcycle crash. Sadly after all efforts were made nothing could be done to save Luke and at just 28yrs old we lost him.
I began working to start the DocBike Staffordshire #LukesLegacy branch of the charity.
We had donations at the funeral and some of the money was donated as a thank you to Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. 
Since then we have been doing our best to work together to prevent these tragedies from happening.
We now have Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Critical Care Paramedics working with us. I am positive that we can come to us to build on our relationship and together prevent more motorcyclists from losing their lives”.

Carol, her son Adam, Luke’s wife Abbie and all of their family now work tirelessly to prevent other families from having to go through the same pain by running DocBike-Staffordshire. Despite the pain involved in making videos such as this to support the National Highways #ProjectEdward, their resolve is steadfast – to prevent future motorcycle deaths by any means.

Through their hard efforts and working within the motorcycling community – those killed or seriously injured through motorcycle collisions in Staffordshire were reduced by over 50% last year
