John is the Deputy Regional Lead at DocBike Hampshire, bringing a dynamic blend of operational leadership, business expertise, and a lifelong passion for motorcycling. An experienced motorcyclist and scooter rider, he has spent years navigating the scenic roads of Hampshire and its surrounding counties, developing a deep understanding of the riding community.

Alongside his role with DocBike, John works as a Business Manager for a Japanese security manufacturer, where he applies strong commercial insight and strategic thinking. He is also an active member of SDMCC, one of Hampshire’s longest-established motorcycle clubs, with over 80 years of history.

With a broad and varied professional background, combined with hands-on riding experience, John plays a key role in supporting and strengthening the DocBike Hampshire team.”

Kate’s journey into motorcycling began in 2020 in an unexpected way. While riding pillion on the back of her husband’s scooter, she shifted her weight slightly, unsettling the bike. Rather than letting the incident discourage her, it sparked a passion that would quickly become a major part of her life. Her husband encouraged her to complete her Compulsory Basic Training (CBT), and soon afterwards she bought her first scooter.

What started as a new hobby rapidly developed into a genuine passion. Within the first 18 months of riding, Kate covered an impressive 10,000 miles, gaining valuable experience on a wide variety of roads and in all weather conditions. Determined to continue developing her skills, she decided to take her full motorcycle licence at the age of 49. The journey to gaining her licence was far from straightforward. From struggling to lift a motorcycle after her foot sank into mud, to dealing with the shock of her instructor being involved in an accident during her training, there were plenty of setbacks. However, Kate’s determination never wavered, and she successfully passed her full motorcycle test.

Since qualifying, Kate has remained as enthusiastic as ever, regularly riding around 10,000 miles every year. She firmly believes that becoming a better rider is a continual process rather than a destination. To further develop her skills, she has completed the Biker Down and BikeSafe courses, as well as participating in two Slow Riding Days, taking every opportunity available to improve her confidence, control, and roadcraft.

Her passion for motorcycles is reflected in the variety of machines she owns. Kate’s collection includes four scooters, a Honda Rebel 500, an Indian Scout, and a Triumph Bobber, each offering a different riding experience and demonstrating her love of both practical and leisure motorcycling.

Committed to lifelong learning, Kate has achieved the prestigious Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM RoadSmart) Advanced Rider qualification and is currently training to become a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) instructor. Her ambition is to help new and returning riders build confidence, develop safe riding habits, and enjoy motorcycling responsibly.

Kate joined DocBike Hampshire for a simple reason that soon became something much bigger. While accompanying her husband to motorcycle events, she found herself wanting a more meaningful way to contribute than simply waiting while he chatted with fellow bikers. Volunteering with DocBike gave her that opportunity. It combined her passion for motorcycling with her desire to help others. To clear things up, and explain the DocBike journey, her husband is the Deputy Regional Lead for Hampshire, so its becoming a family thing.

Today, Kate is a passionate advocate for rider education and believes that improving riders’ skills is one of the most effective ways to reduce the number and severity of motorcycle collisions. Through her work with DocBike Hampshire and her ongoing instructor training, she is committed to helping riders across Hampshire become safer, more confident, and more skilled on the road, ensuring they can enjoy motorcycling for many years to come.
