A Great day of engagement for Shropshire
A Great Day of Engagement with the BMW Owners Club.
Sunday 23 August 2026, the DocBike Shropshire team had the pleasure of attending the BMW Owners Club event at Harper Adams University in Edgmond, Shropshire.
We arrived with the bikes, gazebo and a full array of DocBike merchandise, ready for a day of conversations, engagement and sharing what we do.
We were also incredibly lucky to have a fantastic range of volunteers supporting the DocBike stand throughout the day, including Area Lead, Paul Collier, Deputy Lead, Darren (Daz) Coombs, Heidie Coombs, Helena Hunt-Hyde, Ian Biddle, Dave Lowe, and one of our newest recruits, Simon Crawley.
Simon did an outstanding job throughout the day. His confidence grew as the day went on, and he certainly wasn’t shy when it came to engaging with anyone who approached the stand! It was fantastic to see him getting involved, having conversations and becoming such a great ambassador for DocBike.
A particular highlight was seeing our, Darren (Daz) Coombs, leading one of the Biker Down sessions, alongside Fiona Parry, who led another. It was fantastic to see our team sharing these important skills and helping riders understand how they can respond confidently should they ever come across a motorcycle incident.
The afternoon brought another great opportunity, with a taster session alongside the SAMM group, encouraging club members to find out more about the IAM Advanced Observation Team and the benefits of developing their riding skills even further.
All in all, it was a fantastic engagement day, with the DocBike team speaking to over 110 club members. There were so many great conversations throughout the day, with plenty of interest in DocBike, what we do and how we support the motorcycling community.
It was genuinely lovely to spend the day with such an engaging and enthusiastic group of people. The interest, questions and conversations made the day incredibly worthwhile.
A huge thank you to the BMW Owners Club for welcoming us and for giving us the opportunity to be part of such a great event. And, of course, a massive thank you to all of our volunteers who gave their time and energy to make the day such a success.
Ride safe, look out for each other, and keep learning.
