Shropshire
DocBike Shropshire is the newest regional team of the DocBike charity, joining colleagues across the UK in working to reduce motorcycle deaths and serious injuries through rider engagement, skills development, and road-safety awareness. Based in Shropshire, we are building on DocBike’s nationwide efforts to help motorcyclists become more skilful, better informed, and safer on two wheels.
At this early stage, we are establishing connections with local partners and helping to raise awareness of motorcycle risk in our communities. If you’re interested in what we’re doing — whether you ride yourself, work with riders, or would like to be involved — we’d be happy to hear from you and explore how you might support our work. Meet the Team!
DocBike is run entirely by volunteers! Motorcyclists and members of the public like you! All passionate about motorcycling and keeping motorcyclists on two wheels.
We’re a very friendly bunch who are always looking for more help to man stands at bike events or use their specialist skills to help the charity run and therefore help save biker’s lives.

Regional Lead
Paul Collyer
Paul is the Regional Lead for DocBike Shropshire and has been part of the county’s motorcycling scene for more than 20 years. Motorcycles have been part of his life from the very beginning. His dad owned a motorcycle shop in the 1950s and 60s, so he grew up around bikes and rode his first one at just seven years old. He’s never been without a motorcycle since, owning everything from moto crossers and sports bikes to tourers and adventure bikes.
He was one of the small crew who helped start what’s now Bike4Life, which has grown into one of the region’s best-known motorcycle events. Supporting riders and giving something back to the biking community has always been important to him.
Paul is a founding member and former Trustee and Area Lead for Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes, and still volunteers as a rider and rider assessor. Over the years he’s also been involved in advanced rider development locally, helping others build confidence and sharpen their skills.
These days he rides a trusty BMW R1200GS and a Royal Enfield Himalayan 411, which he enjoys using for green laneing whenever he gets the chance.
Deputy Regional Lead
Darren “Daz” Coombs
Daz is the Deputy Regional Lead for DocBike Shropshire, bringing a long background in road safety and professional training to the team. He spent 17 years within the MOD as a Defence Driving Instructor, developing a strong focus on skilled driving and rider development. He is also a National Observer with Shropshire Advanced Motorcyclists, supporting riders who want to improve their skills and confidence on the road.
He now works as a Training Manager for one of the UK’s leading first aid training providers, supporting trainers across the UK and beyond. With extensive experience in first aid, trauma care and education, Daz is passionate about giving people the skills and confidence to respond when it matters most.
A lifelong motorcyclist, Daz currently rides a BMW R1250RT and is looking forward to taking delivery of his new BMW GSA1300. He has seen first-hand the impact of serious road collisions and is committed to helping reduce risk and improve outcomes for riders across Shropshire.

Gift Aid enables us to claim back 25p in every £1 donated from HMRC and is one of the easiest ways to make your donation tax effective. The charity reclaims the money and there is no additional cost to you!

Volunteer
Everyone involved with the charity is a volunteer, we do not employ a single person. We are always looking for new volunteers who can help, so whatever you’re good at and however much time you have, we would be delighted to hear from you!

Donate
No matter how big or small, we are extremely grateful for all donations received. Your support enables the charity to direct resources to stop bikers from having a collision in the first place and to kit out the response motorcycles with medical equipment, so that we can be there for fallen bikers when they are involved in a collision.
